Campbell Elementary Media Center
Welcome to our Media Center, where Erin Ball is our MEDI Specialist and Janice Coley is our MEDI Paraprofessional and they are here to share their love of reading. The Media Center is a fun and colorful environment designed to provide encouragement and resources to support reading, learning and technology throughout the school.
What are some things students can do in the Media Center? Well, our students can research topics and look up current events. Search the bookshelves for their favorite authors and books. Students can help their friends find books, and examine their Accelerated Reading scores by homeroom. Our Media Center is place where students can leave their classroom to relax and read a book, if they so choose. While in the Media Center, students can enjoy the colorful flexible seating and meeting areas throughout the library. Check out what other students are doing on the Student Digital Board, and listen to local authors during book talks.
What can some things our teachers can do in the Media Center? Teachers can collaborate with our MEDI Specialist, Mrs. Ball, on a variety of reading and research lessons. Teachers are welcome to schedule their class for the Mac Lab where they can utilize Apple devices like iPads, Mac Airs and the Apple TV. Another option teachers have in the Media Center is to learn about new technology devices and new applications on Techie Thursdays. Here teachers share technology related ideas and applications with each other to build on what they can do in the classroom.
What are some things our parents and community members? Well, parents are welcome to read to their child or check out books and other devices to support their child learning and growth. Our Media is the central hub for parent and community school meetings.
Our Media Center is an active place where everyone is welcome to sit and visit again and again. However if you want a voice in what the Media Center is doing, then please join the Media Committee, where we work to request books our students love to read, facilitate school Book Fairs, oversee the distribution of RIF (Reading Is Fundamental) Books and promote technology integration. We welcome you to visit our Media Center and share in your love of reading, media and technology integration.
