Definitions
The following are definitions and terms to know:
- Comics: pictures and words used together to show and tell a story, idea, poem or joke.
- Pictures: Drawing or other images used to show a story, idea, poem, or joke.
- Words: Letters grouped together in order to tell a story, idea, poem or joke.
- Panels: The various shapes that contain the pictures in a comic
- Panel Layout: The grouping of panels on comic page or strip
- Gutter: The empty spaces that separate the panels of a comic
- Captions: The various shapes that contain and distinguish the words in a comic
- Tails: The pointers that issue from captions identifying the speaker, thinker or subject of a comic
- Cartoon: Used here interchangeably with comic strip. In modern print media, a cartoon is a piece of art, usually humorous in intent
